Campfire Talk by Nick Luna
June 16, 2025
Hi everyone! For those of you who don’t know my name is Nick Luna but a lot of people call me Tuna. I’m a second year staff member on life squad. I am going to be a junior at Iowa State University Ames campus.Today I am going to be talking about where/how I see God. Everyone sees God in different places, for example their parents or a sport. Seeing God isn’t all about people, it can be about places or things. For example Addy sees God in deep conversations with other people, Drew sees God in friendships and families. God is everywhere and can be seen everywhere no matter what, but where I see God most is in the beauty of nature. In mountains, animals, sunsets, beautiful lakes, and even thunderstorms. The more you look for it the more you see and for me that is nature. Throughout this week I want you guys to think about where and how you see God’s love and all his little fingerprints on your life.
When I was about your guy’s age I didn’t really enjoy nature or find the true beauty in it. My parents would take me and my sister on hikes and I would get bored or annoyed with the hike and want to turn around. As I kept getting older I started to enjoy the true beauty of God’s creations in nature. How much time and effort God put into each and every little thing about nature. When I was in 8th grade my dad took me to Yosemite national park in California. Growing up my dad would always talk about how pretty California was and how he saw God in nature. Like I said, I never fully understood it until this trip to yosemite. I saw the prettiest view I had ever seen of the valley of Yosemite and I started to understand what my dad had been saying all along about how God’s love can be seen in nature to create something this beautiful for all of us to enjoy.
Nature is my way of God showing me how much he loves me by creating something so beautiful that I can enjoy with my own two eyes. This is where I find God’s love the most and where I can truly see him and his fingerprints. As I said earlier God has his fingerprints everywhere, especially in all of you. Where you connect most with God can become a happy place or even a comfort place for you. For me, if I’m feeling overwhelmed or stressed out, I like to go sit outside and enjoy the sounds of nature. I want you guys to try to find something like that. It doesn’t have to be nature, it doesn’t have to be family or friends but I want you guys to try and find something where you see God’s fingerprints. Everyone has a different way they see God which is what makes us all unique so don’t feel sad if you see it differently. Just try to find where you see God and if you’re down one day try to enjoy the peace in where you see God.
The verse I chose is from Genesis because I believe it ties in everything God made and how amazing it all is. Like friends, families, sports and camp, not just nature. As not everyone sees God’s love the same way, this shows how broad and big God’s love is for all of us. Genesis 1:31 “Then God saw everything that he had made and indeed it was very good.”
