Multi Session Weeks!
Last summer we rolled out 3 multi-session weeks, and they were a hit with families and filled to capacity! This year we will be adding a fourth one. These weeks have an elementary and middle schoolc amp running concurrnetly, with 4-6 cabins each and independant programming. These weeks also have leadership positions for LITs (rising 9-10th) and CITs/Counselors (rising 11-12th).
This means that we can host students entering Grades 3-12 all together at 4 of our 9 camp weeks this summer.
If you’re trying to decide if these weeks are a fit for your family, here is a quick summary of how the elementary and middle school camps interact during these weeks.
Campers at Camp Aspire & Camp Adventure
If you have kids in both Camp Aspire and Camp Adventure up at camp the same week, then they will have moments where they get to see one another and connect if they want to, but they will also have times to be with their own peers from their program. There are ways that this can be adjusted a little bit to accommodate more or less time together or apart depending on preference. For example, siblings who love seeing each other might spend freetime together after campfire or choose the same morning activity option.
Housing
Each program has its own sets of cabins (4-6 each) that are near one another. We have a very small footprint camp, so no cabin is more than a 2 minute walk away from any other cabin.
Activities
Small groups and all afternoon and evening activities (swimming, field games, canteen, and full property games) are separated by program. The elective activities in the morning can have kids from both programs choosing the same thing (i.e. going out on the pontoon). All campers choose activities at the same time in one large room so they can talk to their friends and see who is going where.
Campfire
Campfire time is combined, but campers sit with their cabins. There is usually a bit of freetime after campfire, where campers can go to activity areas with camp staff that might have kids from both programs there.
Meals
We all eat meals at the same time in the dining hall. Typically we put each camp on one side of the dining hall so they are near their peers.
We hope this helps answer some questions you might have! We love talking about camp – so email us at info@spiritinthepinescamp.org if you have any more questions about these weeks!
